Congratulations to all Urbanathletes who completed Singapore’s toughest urban obstacle race!

It wasn’t easy, we know (we planned it that way). And because it was arguably the toughest one yet, all the men and women who came, saw and conquered the Men’s Health Urbanathlon 2013 will tell you – in between rubbing their aching muscles the morning after – that they’re glad and proud to have crossed the finishing line, mud and all.

And they very well should. Between the 14km route and nine obstacles (we know the Workload and Lateral Move obstacles saw the most ‘what-have-I-gotten-myself-into moments), there was hardly time to catch your breath. But breathing is for losers. And all you guys and gals, you are all winners in the books of Men’s Health. Well done, and we’ll see you next year.

Individual category winners
The individual category was won by Jason Lawrence, with a timing of 55 minutes and 05 seconds to record his third-ever victory in this event. The New Zealander proudly walked home with S$7,000 worth of prizes. Clinching the second place with a timing of 55 minutes and 35 seconds was Jagat Bahadur Magar, while Dev Kumar Rai took third place with a timing of 57 minutes and 50 seconds.

Corporate category champion
The team “SPF Team A" emerged victorious to take home grand prizes totaling $14,000. The teams “Physically Educated" and “Singapore Prison Service" took second and third place respectively.

Runners with a cause
Team Latimer, led by FOX Sports presenters Kelly Latimer and Colette Wong, ran the Men’s Health Urbanathlon for the first time to raise funds for the Alzheimer’s Disease Association, as well as raise awareness about dementia.

For Latimer, the race, which marked her first-ever foray into competitive races, had an emotional quotient. “My granddad passed away from dementia last year, and it’s a very painful process, and we wanted to highlight to those in the same plight that they’re not alone. We managed to raise $3,355, and it is for those who are experiencing the situation of having a family member with this illness."

It was also heartwarming to hear the cheers of supporters as parathletes Adam Kamis (“One Arm Runner") and Shariff Abdullah (“Singapore Blade Runner") crossed the finished line in an amazing display of grit and determination. Both Adam and Shariff are repeat racers who took part in the race to help raise the awareness of disabled athletes in Singapore.
